Yoruba leaders Warns Buhari to Address IPOB issues

Leaders of all pan Yoruba groups in the Southwest geo-political group Tuesday asked the Federal Government to look at the issues leading to the separatist feeling of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in the southeast geo-political zone of the country.

The groups, including the Yoruba Unity Forum led by Bishop Bolanle Gbonigi, Afenifere, the Pan Yoruba Socio-Political group led by Pa Reuben Fasoranti, Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), led by Otunba Gani Adams, and the Gen Adeyinka Adebayo (rtd)-led Yoruba Council of Elders, said as long as they believe in the unity of the country, the government must look at the issues leading to the agitation of IPOB.
In the Communiqué read after the summit by Dr Kunle Olajide, the Chairman of the Summit Planning Committee, the groups asked the Federal government to begin constitution reform that would give a sense of belonging to all constituent units of the country.
According to the Yoruba leaders, the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference offer a good template for such engagement of the national question, saying the restructuring of the country is the only panacea to the myriads of problems confronting the country.
